At Hillcrest Hospital's Family Maternity Center, we know all about the joys and anxieties of pregnancy, birth and parenting. After all, we help nearly 4,000 expectant families bring their babies into the world each year, and we're ready to help you.We know that you have many questions and concerns and we are prepared to help in every way.
From the time you learn you're pregnant, the physicians and staff of Hillcrest Hospital will be beside you - working to make your experience as healthy, pleasant and memorable as possible.
You're Pregnant...Now What?
In order to become familiar and comfortable with our facility, we suggest that you register to visit the Family Maternity Center prior to your delivery. During the free guided tour, you will have the opprtunity to see our birthing rooms, postpartum rooms and nurseries. You will also receive information and procedures for admission, visitation and discharge. Sibling tours are also available for the ever-curious big brothers and sisters.
Your Birth Experience
Hillcrest's Family Maternity Center provides a comfortable environment that features private and semi-private rooms, low lighting, infant warmers, television and all of the necessary monitoring equipment. Additionally, we offer specially-equipped operating rooms for Caesarean births. Our delivery services, including anesthesia, are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to ensure that we'll be ready when you are.
The nursing and professional staff can accommodate your birthing preferences and needs by working closely with your private obstetrician and/or midwife. You and your baby will also receive individual care and teaching from highly-experienced obstetrical nurses and lactation consultants.
Special Care Nursey
Some babies need extra-special care and that's where our Level II Special Care Nursery (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) can help. Our NICU provides round-the-clock coverage from board-certified neonatalogists and neonatal practitioners for infnats with special needs, including ventilator assisance.
In 2010, our NICU will elevate to a Level III NICU. After this change, our Special Care Nursey will accept babies at any week of gestation.
Cleveland Clinic Department of Maternal-Fetal Medicine
If your physician deems your pregnancy high risk, you can feel confident knowing that we have access to the Cleveland Clinic Department of Maternal-Fetal Medicine located in the Hillcrest Atrium.
The team in maternal-fetal medicine consists of :

Childbirth and Parenting Education
As we all know, babies don't come with instructions. But thanks to Hillcrest Hospital's extensive list of childbirth and parenting education classes, parents-to-be can be armed with knowledge and know-how by the time their little ones arrive. Our program offers classes to help prepare all member of the family- even the family pet!

Our program also features on-site lactation consultants who are available during your hospital stay to help with all of your breastfeeding needs. These consultants are available to provide support to you after you have been discharged form the hospital. After discharge, we also invite you to attend one of our free breastfeeding support groups for even more help and insight from other new moms.
Bringing Home Your Bundle of Joy
When your obstetrician or midwife has determined your discharge from the hospital, the services of our Family Maternity Center and Childbirth and Parenting Education Program remains available to you . We offer family/baby classes Monday through Friday mornings to ensure you and your baby are ready for 11 a.m. discharge time.
On the day of discharge, your spouse or support person is welcome to utilize our valet service free. All other times, visitors must park in our free parking garage.
Should your newborn need medical attention, Hillcrest offers high-quality pediatric care for your family. Our Pediatric Emergency Department and Pediatric Unit work in conjunction with your baby's physician and are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
