Staying in the hospital is not a fun experience, especially for a child. A child’s illness is difficult for everyone involved and Hillcrest Hospital’s Pediatric Unit can help families through this trying time. Conveniently located in your community, our Pediatric Unit offers comprehensive, high-quality pediatric care that can make your child’s stay more relaxed and put your fears at ease.
Care Coordinated with Your Physician
Your child’s primary care physician (PCP) will coordinate the care of your child during the hospital stay. Several options for pediatric inpatient medical management exist. Your PCP may admit and manage their patients with the support of pediatric nurse practitioners, or they may choose to have their inpatients managed by private practice pediatricians or the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital Pediatric Hospitalist service. The Children’s Hospital Pediatric Hospitalist will provide in-house management upon request by private physicians and will also be available in-house for emergencies and consultations 24/7 for pediatric patients.
Experienced pediatric registered nurses provide round-the-clock care to pediatric patients of all ages who require hospital admission for:
- Asthma
- Respiratory infections
- Gastroenteritis with dehydration
- Pneumonia
- Fractures
- Other common childhood illnesses
